Eating Strawberries from the Garden

garden Jul 01, 2021

Teaching the next generation has already begun!

And Landon is a very willing student when it comes to eating strawberries out of the garden. But...

He has a long way to go when it comes to learning his colors. LOL

Fortunately, we had an incredible crop of strawberries this year. This video was taken on May 31st, and we've never before harvested as many berries as we did this year.

Not only did everyone eat as many as they could, but we also shared some with friends and froze (best guess)...

Weekly Pizza Night

wood fired oven Jun 30, 2021

Traditions are super, super important to me.  And so I'm always looking for a way to add a new tradition to our family!

Years ago, we started having a weekly homemade pizza night. But over the years, as we moved to the new farm, for some reason, we dropped that tradition.

But it's back!!

And better than ever with the addition of our outdoor wood-fired pizza oven.

Enjoying watching the chaos that is our weekly pizza night!

THIS is (one of) my Favorite Parts of Gardening

garden Jun 29, 2021

Gardening takes soooo much time and effort!

So why do I do it?

I have lots and lots of reasons...

  1. Better tasting food
  2. Food full of nutrients
  3. No chemicals in our food
  4. Focus on fruits and vegetables
  5. Stress relief
  6. Exercise
  7. Gives me time to think and pray
  8. Better for environment
  9. Sustainable
  10. Frugal
  11. Preparedness

And then there is the reason I discuss in today's video!!

Thoughts from the Garden

garden Jun 28, 2021

I have a very large garden and I spend a LOT of my time in the garden.

It's never mostly not a chore, but instead, a time that I look forward to. Gardening relaxes me and gives me a chance to think and pray and plan.

We've been constructing new garden beds and filling them with soil. And because all of the soil has been turned over, all the weed seeds have been exposed and the new beds are full of weeds.

After spending a few hours weeding, I sat down for a break and just thought about...

"Sharing" The Work

Uncategorized Jun 27, 2021

I love having a large family. And most of the time, so do the children.

One of the best parts of having so many siblings is that there is usually somebody around to help with the workload.

So why is Fletcher carrying the bench all by himself... while Emery follows behind?

You'll have to watch the video to find out!

Rainbow over the Farm

Uncategorized Jun 26, 2021

Are you good at taking the time to stop and appreciate nature? I hope so because the beauty of a rainbow should never grow old!

We've always worked hard to teach the children to appreciate the wonders of nature.
When we spotted this beautiful rainbow in the backyard, we called the children to come and share it with us. I love how excited they were during this video.

Taking time to appreciate a beautiful rainbow is an important part of life. I hope whatever we...

Pregnant Nigerian Dwarf Goats

goats Jun 25, 2021

Our goats are a part of our family.

As you can tell, Greyden knows each and every one of them by name and points each of them out as they hang out in the field one afternoon.

They are due in about a month and the anticipation of new baby goats is starting to build!

Are you looking forward to the new kids?

Raspberries in the Garden

garden Jun 24, 2021

We've lived at our farm for about 8 years. And every year, I save up some money so that I can expand and improve on our gardens.

This year, our garden has been getting a major addition.

During construction, we had to remove the raspberries from where they were and then "store" them while the new beds were built.

As a result, the raspberries have been transplanted twice.

Some of the raspberries have handled the transition well... and some haven't.

Find out if we have been able to...

Taking the Pigs for a Walk

Uncategorized Jun 23, 2021

I love living in the country. There is always something new to learn about the land or animals.

We were enjoying dinner at a friend's farm the other night. They keep 4H pigs for some of the local young people who can't keep pigs at their own homes.

After dinner, the pigs went out for a walk!

I'll be honest, I've never seen that before so I filmed it and asked some of the questions that I was curious about.

I hope you enjoy learning some basics about 4H pigs!
